Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The IOP programs for adults and adolescents are designed as Early Recovery and Relapse Prevention groups. They focus on the development of intervention strategies and coping skills a person needs to secure a sober, productive lifestyle. The IOP therapist assists each patient to understand the precipitating events and contributing factors to their current situation. Only after identifying dysfunctional behaviors and beliefs, and how these perpetuate the problems, can that person begin to change.

Chemical Dependency impacts every aspect of a person’s life and requires a concrete plan to begin to build recovery. Familial, social, occupational, biomedical, financial, and recreational effects are addressed in treatment.

As addiction is all-encompassing, so must recovery be. Our treatment plans will include, but are certainly not limited to: Family and significant other involvement; self-management skills; building sober support networks; 12-step fellowship meetings; contact with referents, employers, or EAPs; planning for leisure time activities; and adjunct services, such as referrals to community agencies, if needed. Weekly individual sessions with the therapist throughout the program are a vital element in the treatment process. Additional services are scheduled as needed for the Dual population. (See Dual Diagnosis Services)

As moving into recovery can be a difficult process, and at times painful for the patient, we encourage the group members to rely on each other and to share their struggles and successes.
Length of stay is determined by severity of a person’s problem and clinical necessity for treatment. Completion of treatment plan objectives and acceptance of a continuing care plan are required for successful discharge from the program.
