Dual
Diagnosis
Program
The patient with a Dual Diagnosis is one who must cope with and
manage both chemical dependency and a mental health issue such
as mood or psychotic disorders. This person's progression into
addiction can be precipitated by, strengthened by, or
complicated by this mental health disorder. This can prove
overwhelming and even debilitating to the patient and requires a
more complex treatment approach. Underlying mood disorders,
anxiety disorders, impulse control problems, and significant
life stressors must be addressed in any comprehensive treatment
of addiction. More long-standing issues of abuse or chronic
personality styles such as Borderline and co-dependency must
also be addressed. The component that distinguishes Roxbury is
its comprehensive Dual Diagnosis intervention. Our Psychiatric
and Psychological staff have developed a dynamic and
multifaceted approach for this specialized treatment program.
Doctors Rocco Manfredi and Eric Bonsall, Medical Directors, lead
our dynamic Treatment Team and direct the course of Dual
Diagnosis intervention. These respected psychiatrists, with over
20 years combined treatment experience of the dual diagnosis
client, assisted in the development of Roxbury's Dual Treatment
Program and fully understand the challenges facing this
population of clients. Our skilled counselors create specific
Dual Diagnosis care plans with the psychiatrist's input.
Roxbury's formulary for psychotropic medications is extensive.
