Admissions Criteria...


Acute Psychiatric...

  • The individual is a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • The individual’s DSM-IV Multi-axial Assessment includes a Mental Health Diagnosis and a current or historical substance use/abuse/dependence disorder.
  • The individual is experiencing psychotic or behavioral symptoms that are symptomatic of the MH Diagnoses that would require inpatient placement to stabilize.
  • The individual is physically and intellectually able to safely and productively participate in the treatment program. Individual demonstrates a desire for treatment and sobriety.
  • The individual may be in need of detoxification.
  • The present condition and level of functioning of the individual can reasonably be expected to improve based on the structure and integrated treatment and recovery services provided by the treatment facility. Exclusions include individuals who are significantly medically unstable; those who are not able to comprehend educational material or participate in group or milieu offerings; and those who have a sustained history of significant physical or sexual violence. Roxbury does not maintain the specialized resources required to accommodate these treatment needs.




Detoxification/Rehabilitation...
  • Mild to moderate withdrawal risk.
  • Bio-Medical Conditions requiring less than intensive medical treatment.
  • Patient requires structure to allow focus on recovery due to mild to moderate emotional or behavioral instability. Displays poor impulse control.
  • Accepting of treatment but needing structured environment to achieve and maintain therapeutic goals.
  • Inability to stop using without intervention. Lacks, or has minimal relapse prevention skills. Impacts of substance abuse on life systems clearly evident.
  • Relapse danger exists in home environment, but recovery is achievable.
  • Individuals age 18 and over.





Outpatient...
  • Persons age 14 and over.
  • Roxbury will provide impartial access to treatment regardless of creed, sex, ethnicity, color, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, religion or ability.
  • Persons showing evidence of recent psychoactive substance abuse, which does not requires intense monitoring or observation. Persons not displaying signs or symptoms of eminent withdrawal. Persons who may or may not have a co-occurring mental health disorder. Persons who have a likelihood of continued substance use without clinical intervention.
  • Persons with sufficient cognitive abilities to participate meaningfully in the course of treatment. These individuals must demonstrate ability to comprehend the Patient Rights & Responsibilities.
  • Persons who are at no risk of danger to self or others, but who may have a history of suicidal or self-harm ideations or attempts. An individual’s mental health disorder must be stabilized and he/she must be consistent with any prescribed medications.
  • Persons who are ambulatory and able to be self-sufficient in the case of an emergency.
  • Persons whose living environment is at least somewhat conducive to obtaining recovery goals.
  • Roxbury Treatment Center utilizes ASAM and PCPC guidelines to determine eligibility for admission and level of care placement.
